Hey epyic crew

Congrats to everyone who took on the Melbourne Marathon! While we didn’t do the run, we had a brilliant time last weekend too. Hitting the trails with a new hiking community, making new friends and sharing laughs over schnitzels at the pub after. Legs tired, hearts (and bellies) full.

This week, Melbourne continues in full swing. Fringe takes its final bows, the Jazz Festival takes over, and that’s just the start of it. We love a live show. That said, some of our favourites have a different kind of stage: the amber glow from a lookout at dusk, the surf rolling in under the cliffs, the forest’s harmony with birds in chorus.

The real thing, live outside.

See you out there

ADVENTURES THIS WEEK 🔥

🌄 Burkes Lookout Sunset Social | Melbourne Adventure Club

Friday evening, a forest walk, and the city switching its lights on beneath you. Luisa keeps this one easy: a gentle wander through the trees at Mount Dandenong, then back to the lookout with time to settle in before the sun turns the horizon golden. Bring a blanket or camp chair and something small to share. She’s got the music and non-alcoholic drinks covered. If you feel like keeping the night going, join the group for dinner after. Come alone, plenty do.

Wild weather bumped this one a fortnight ago. Consider this the encore.

📅 Fri 16 Oct, 4:45 to 7:30pm 📍 Mount Dandenong

🥾 Fort Nepean Coastal Hike | Pride Adventures Victoria

Ocean on one side, bay on the other, and 18km of clifftops and history in between. The day opens at London Bridge lookout, then follows the ridge out to Fort Nepean, past the old Quarantine Station (a little spooky, all part of the charm) and back via the old firing ranges. If the tide’s low, there’s a stretch of beach thrown in.

A few small hills to get the heart going, no big climbs. No soundtrack needed, the surf has it covered.

📅 Sat 17 Oct, 8:30am to 3pm 📍 Portsea
🎟️ Free to join but please RSVP

🛶 Hike and Kayak Yarra Bend | Take Shape Adventures

Bush tracks, a riverbank lunch and an afternoon on Birrarung (Yarra), without leaving the inner north. The morning follows side tracks and sneaky shortcuts through Yarra Bend until the suburbs disappear. After lunch, it’s into stable double kayaks to paddle upstream, then drift back down with the current.

No paddling experience needed. Prefer your kayak with some golden hues? The sunset kayak heads out at 5pm the same day.

📅 Sun 18 Oct, 9am to 3pm 📍 Fairfield

🌿 Forest Therapy at Grant’s Picnic Ground | Forest Therapy Victoria

Mountain ash towering overhead, ferns underfoot, and three hours just for you. Laura guides you through a series of slow, sensory activities in the Dandenongs, with a little of the science on why time among the trees does us good. Grant’s Picnic Ground is a traditional meeting place of the Wurundjeri People, rich with Indigenous history and abundant with native plants and wildlife. A perfect place to slow right down.

The weekend’s unplugged set. First time in the Dandenongs or fiftieth, you’ll experience it differently.

📅 Sat 17 Oct, 9:30am to 12:30pm 📍 Sherbrooke

🤿 Boarfish Reef & South Channel Fort Double Dive | Scubabo Dive

Every colour of the rainbow, 8 to 22m down. Boarfish Reef drops away in caves, overhangs and ledges, home to blue devils, crayfish and the reef’s namesake boarfish, with a 4m Admiralty anchor crusted in growth at its southern end. The second dive explores the waters around South Channel Fort, an 1880s bluestone island built to guard the shipping channel.

Front-row seats to the bay’s colour show.

📅 Sat 17 Oct, 7:15 to 11:15am 📍 Queenscliff & Sorrento
