Hey epyic crew
We’ve got some news. For the past few months, we’ve been rebuilding epyic.com, and the new version goes live very soon.
We created epyic to make it easier for you to get outside and connect with others, yourself and nature. And we’ve designed the upgraded platform with that mission in mind. Beyond the fresh look, you’ll see adventures picked for you. Select your interests, follow your favourite organisers, and see more of what you’d love.
We also have a lineup of communities waiting to come on board the upgraded platform, and we can’t wait to share their adventures with you.
If you haven’t joined epyic.com yet, now’s the time. It’s free, and it’s how you’ll get your personalised picks. The epyic Explorer (this newsletter) is evolving too. More on that soon.
In the meantime, here are a few ways to upgrade your weekend.
See you out there

ADVENTURES THIS WEEK 🔥
🚶🏽♀️ The untold stories | She Shapes History
Walk past Parliament, down Little Lon and through Chinatown, and you’ll pass stories about women that never made the history books. She Shapes History brings them to you: the artists, agitators, entrepreneurs and everyday rebels who built hospitals, launched movements and shaped the city, mostly without credit.
🎟️ In Melbourne, there are four walking tours to choose from:
Badass Women of Melbourne (CBD) covers the stories of the women who dared to speak up and shaped our city.
History Behind the Hedges (Kew & Hawthorn) finds scandal, poetry and at least one shipwreck.
The Women Behind the Gates (Abbotsford) is a moving look at life inside the Abbotsford Convent.
A League of Her Own (CBD to MCG) walks with Rebecca (pictured above), a Richmond AFLW player, telling the stories of the women who refused to be benched.
Same streets, deeper history.
📅 2 to 2.5 hour walking tours, running weekly 📍 Melbourne CBD · Kew · Abbotsford
🎃 Halloween Paddle | SUP Melbourne
Picture a flotilla of witches, grim reapers and who-knows-what paddling up the Birrarung (Yarra) while the city looks on. SUP Melbourne’s annual Halloween paddle heads 3km upriver from Docklands to Birrarung Marr and back. Costumes are a must.
Time to unleash your inner kooky. Stick around for dinner after.
📅 Sat 31 Oct, 3:30 to 6:30pm 📍 Yarra Edge Marina, Docklands
🎟️ Free to join, more info here
🥾 Lerderderg Gorge Circuit | Melbourne Adventure Club
Rock-hop across the river, climb into the gorge and find yourself somewhere that feels far further from Melbourne than it is. This 8km loop with Luisa and the MAC crew follows the Lerderderg River towards Graham’s Dam, then tackles steep link tracks and ridgelines before circling back to Mackenzies Flat.
Rocky, uneven and with a few river crossings, it’s your Sunday walk, upgraded. Come solo, leave with a crew.
📅 Sun 1 Nov, 9:30am to 3:30pm 📍 Lerderderg State Park

🦘 Candlebark Bush Loop | Take Shape Adventures
Birdsong, the odd kangaroo, and a social coffee waiting at the end. This short loop (9km) through Eltham’s parklands is mostly flat, with one small hill in the middle to remind your legs they’re there. Then it’s off to a local café to refuel and have a good chin wag.
Just a short walk from Eltham Station. The easiest upgrade to your Saturday morning.
📅 Sat 31 Oct, 9am to 12pm 📍 Eltham

🌳 Forest Therapy at the Urban Forest | Forest Therapy Victoria
Three hours with no pace and no destination, just the rustle of leaves and the feel of the ground underfoot. Matt guides a slow, sensory session through Malvern East’s Urban Forest Reserve, a green pocket in the middle of the suburbs, with gentle invitations to notice what you’d usually walk straight past.
Sometimes the best upgrade for yourself is to slow down.
📅 Sun 1 Nov, 9am to 12pm 📍 Urban Forest Reserve, Malvern East

⛺ Beginner Camping Workshop | Camp Confident
Not this weekend but when we came across this, we knew we had to share it with you. If you’ve always wanted to sleep under the stars but weren’t sure where to start, this one’s for you.
Bec will take a small group (max 5 people) for a weekend in Yarra Junction and teach you all you need to know about camping for the first time: from choosing a campsite and pitching your tent, to cooking at camp and staying warm overnight.
She keeps it simple (no strenuous hikes or endurance tests) so you can focus on gaining confidence and enjoying your first camping experience with her friendly guidance. Her next workshop will be in Feb so if you’re keen to go camping over summer, come join this one to upgrade your weekends.
📅 Sat 14 Nov to Sun 15 Nov 📍 Yarra Junction
